Apple updates the AirTag firmware almost a year later

New firmware for AirTags (in which we will not notice anything new)

As we have been telling you, Apple has updated the firmware for AirTags. La last update It was version 2A36 released in December 2022. This new version replaces the previous one and has the build number 2A61. Remember that AirTag firmware is updated via Bluetooth.

In addition, this firmware is being deployed gradually. In the next week, 10% of AirTags will install the update automatically. The following week, for November 14, 25%; and, by November 28, 100% of AirTags should have the version installed as long as they are near a device with Bluetooth and an Internet connection.

If you want to check if your AirTag has been lucky and has been updated to the new version, you just have to follow these steps and check that the version matches the new version number: 2A61:

  1. Open the Search app
  2. Keep the AirTag near your iPhone
  3. Click the Objects tab
  4. Select your AirTag in the list of objects
  5. Tap the name of the AirTag and the serial number and firmware version
