We've talked long and extensive on everything new that iOS 18.2 brings, although the truth is that the most interesting thing, Apple Intelligence, is still far from reaching Spain due to pressure from the European Union.
However, each iOS update hides many more new features than we are used to seeing, small details that make our lives much easier, and that is precisely what we want to show you today. These are the six most surprising features that iOS 18.2 integrates for all iPhone users.
Video playback improvements
For some time now, the Photos app has become a real pain if you want to enjoy a video in detail. I mean the real detail, that is, stopping at a specific point, sliding little by little, viewing each frame... You know what I mean.
It seems that someone in Cupertino has taken note, now with the new features of the Photos application in iOS 18.2 we will be able to view videos frame by frame, with every detail, and this will allow us to not only enjoy them better, but also edit them more easily. To view videos frame by frame You just have to do a long press on the timeline that appears right at the bottom of the video.
Disable autoplay and looping
This improvement also comes from the application Photos, one of the ones that has undergone the most changes since the official launch of iOS 18. This is because users are not comfortable with the enormous changes that the Cupertino company has made to the application, and therefore, it will allow us to carry out more adjustments.
If you go to Settings > Apps > Photos, and you navigate through the configuration menu that opens, you will now discover that you will be able to disable automatic playback of videos, and we will also have a new feature, the possibility of preventing videos from playing in a loop, that is, once they have finished, they do not play again. To do this, you simply have to deactivate this function.
More customization in Safari
The Navigator Preferred by iOS users Safari is facing a lot of competition, which is getting fiercer. That is why Apple is committed to integrating small but important new features to improve the performance and customization of Safari with each update.
In iOS 18.2 a cast of new backgrounds have been added to Safari, to see them we only have to enter the Safari home page, press the button "Edit" which appears at the bottom center of the screen, and select the preferred background image. Unfortunately, Apple still does not give us the possibility of setting our own wallpaper for our browser, that is, selecting a photo as we would do with the wallpaper.
Import and export from Safari
Continuing with the news about Safari, another of the great beneficiaries of this update, we will now finally be able to import our bookmarks, favorites and history directly from other browsers, such as Chrome or Edge.
However, it doesn't stop here, because this means that we will also be able to export the bookmarks, that is, take them to other systems or browsers. To do this, simply Settings > Apps > Safari, and you will find this new functionality.
We can now share an AirTag
An object will no longer be solely for its "owner", We'll be able to share an AirTag, which I think is absolutely ideal. In my case, I have an AirTag on my baby's stroller, and another on my cat's collar. Now I'll be able to share this location with other members of my family, who will be able to monitor their status and safety when I'm not able to.
Add “Type to Siri” to Control Center
The last new feature is perhaps the least relevant, but it will be useful for many who want to interact with Siri without “making noise”. We can now add a “Write to Siri” button directly to the Control Center, so we can interact with Apple’s virtual assistant silently.
