The iPhone 15 Pro and its older brother, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, incorporated a great new feature this year: the Action Button. Since its arrival, we have been able to tinker a lot with it, from applying shortcuts when pressed, keeping it as a mute button or configuring its operation in the settings tab that has little to do with the style that iOS has accustomed us to. However, with iOS 17.1, Apple has introduced new features about how this button will behave.
According to the code found in the recently released third beta of iOS 17.1 (the guys at 9to5Mac have taken care of it), Apple has modified the way the Action Button works in certain situations.
The update directly includes a new functionality in which the iPhone detects when the iPhone is in our pockets (thanks to the proximity sensor) to change the functionality of the Action Button. In these cases, Users will have to hold down a little longer for their configured operation to run. This has no other reason than to minimize the number of times it is executed involuntarily (has anyone ever had this happen to them?).
Functionality It comes by default and we will not be able to configure it from any menu, However, it is now available for all users of the third beta of iOS 17.1 and very soon it will be available for users who wait for the official version of the iPhone software update.
