Visual innovations in the App Store categories in iOS 17.2
Historically, the App Store has shown different applications and games based on a series of categories that have remained unchanged for years. The few new features introduced in the App Store in recent years have been the integration of suggestions when searching and the modification of the design a couple of years ago. Nothing else. However, it seems that everything is going to change with iOS 17.2 with the possible arrival of alternative stores to comply with European regulations, but that is for another article.
One of the new features of iOS 17.2 in its beta 2 for developers is the new way to display categories within the App Store. As I told you, before they appeared in each of the 'Apps' or 'Games' sections at the bottom with a two-column list. Although that remains in iOS 17.2, they are added shortcuts to the main categories in the form of a sliding menu at the top, as you can see in the images of the article.

With an icon and the name of the category in bold, as is also the case in Apple Arcade, you can access application categories such as Music, Navigation or Photography and Video and in the games section to categories such as Casino, Puzzle or Simulation. This modification visual only allows you to give a renewed touch to the main screens of the application store, although It has not yet reached all countries and we assume that it will finally reach everyone with the official release of iOS 17.2.
