It has been a clamor from users for a long time. Being able to stream video on CarPlay is a wish list for many users. But for now, Apple limits the categories of apps that can run on CarPlay, including streaming services such as Netflix or its own Apple TV+. However, there is a real alternative.
And there is no app in the App Store as such that includes internet browsing with which we can run streaming video on the websites of the services, however, Sidecar is available on the App Store and loads web URLs to play videos while we're parked.
Sidecar is not a new app and Apple has not changed its policy on video viewing apps or internet browsers in CarPlay, but An app update allows this method and has been approved by Apple.
Sidecar, as I mentioned, requires a URL in the iPhone app. Then, in the CarPlay app, we load that URL into the browser and we'll be able to play the video. This feature may be removed in future app updates, but for now it's still available.
In addition, we must take into account that Sidecar has in-app purchases to unlock this functionality., so maybe only for some of you it is worth taking the risk in case they finally remove it.
