Aiper Surfer S1, your pool without dirt and without effort

The new Surfer S1 from Aiper is perfect to keep the surface of your pool always impeccable thanks to its control via smartphone and its solar panels that allow it to recharge its battery while it is working.

Surely you already know very well the pool cleaning robots that keep the bottom of the pool clean, and the most advanced ones even keep the walls clean. We have already analyzed several of the best on the market from this same Aiper brand (Scuba S1 y S1 Pro), but there are also other types of robots that are dedicated to cleaning the surface of the pool, avoiding having to use the classic pole with a net to remove leaves, insects and other dirt that settles on the surface of the water. Within that category is the Surfer S1, Aiper's new robot that also takes advantage of being above water to recharge using solar panels that is at the top, making the autonomy much greater. The fact that it is always connected to your WiFi network or via Bluetooth allows you to control it using your smartphone, completing a perfect device to keep your impeccable pool effortless.

Operation

With a very modern design simulating a catamaran, the Surfer S1 causes the water that passes under it to filter through the basket where the leaves and other dirt remain. Navigation is carried out randomly, going around the pool without order or disorder, avoiding obstacles and walls with its ultrasonic sensors. The navigation speed is slow, "as if taking a walk", so slow and so stable that It almost makes you want to put the beer on top of the Surfer. It is advisable to use it with the pool empty, but you can bathe without problems with the Surfer running, there is no risk of bumps, or even that the propellers could be damaged.

The autonomy of the cleaner is 12 hours according to the brand, although I think that in practice it is somewhat below that figure. But that's what solar charging is for, which will allow you to almost forget about recharging the Surfer. Everything will depend on the hours of sunshine in your pool, in my case few. My daily routine is about 2 hours of cleaning and with that I only recharge the device once a week, the rest is recharged with solar energy. It must be taken into account that even if the Surfer is not moving, it is always connected to the WiFi network, waiting for orders, which causes it to consume battery even if it is not cleaning. I take advantage of that weekly refill to clean the waste basket and leave the cleaner impeccable.

If the Surfer sees that the battery is running out, it will activate an intermittent cleaning mode. If the battery runs out it will disconnect and you will have to wait for it to recharge enough with solar energy or recharge it yourself from the socket. You can see the battery level in the app for your smartphone (link) and you can also check if it is being recharged with sunlight or not. You will also see if there is a WiFi and/or Bluetooth connection on the main screen, and also the temperature of the pool water, an interesting detail.

Aiper Surfer app

You can activate cleaning using the button on the back of the robot, or from the application on your smartphone. You have a manual mode that allows you to control the robot as if it were a remote control. It is a curious rather than practical functionality, at least I never use it. What I miss is the ability to schedule cleaning, so that it cleans daily on an established schedule, or at least be able to set a timer so that when you activate the cleaning it will automatically stop after a while. Two very useful features that I hope will be added in future updates.

Cleaning the basket can be done weekly thanks to its large capacity. It is very simple, like the rest of Aiper's roots, and with the help of a hose you will have it clean in a couple of minutes. The maintenance of the Aiper Surfer S1 is minimal, much lower than that of conventional robots, thanks to solar recharging.

Editor's opinion

The Surfer S1 from Aiper is a robot that keeps the surface of your pool clean with very little effort on your part. Solar recharging, great autonomy, smartphone control and the large dirt basket mean that you only have to do a weekly recharging and cleaning routine, which is a dream for those of us who know what it's like to keep your pool clean. As a complement to a conventional robot, this Surfer S1 is wonderful. You can buy it on Amazon for € 549 (link) although there are very frequent offers that allow you to buy it even for less than €400.
