Apple has just released iOS 18.4, the next update to its iPhone operating system, which brings with it a series of improvements and new features that promise to make the experience smoother and smarter. Image Playground Update
iOS 18.4 Beta 1 adds a new Drawing style to Image Playground for Apple Intelligence image generation. Previously, only Animation and Illustration styles were available.
Visual Intelligence for more devices
Apple has brought this Apple Intelligence feature, which uses your camera to gather information about what you're viewing with your iPhone's camera, to the iPhone 15 Pro, using the action button located just above the volume buttons. On the iPhone 16 Pro models, this feature is used with Camera Control, but on older models that don't have this button, Apple has implemented that solution.
Genmoji Button
The Genmoji button on the keyboard now features a “Genmoji” label along with an introduction to the feature upon first use.
Missing Apple Intelligence Features
To iOS 18.4 There are some Apple Intelligence features missing that were expected in this update and which probably won't arrive until 2026. Missing Apple Intelligence features include a smarter Siri that recognizes on-screen content and performs relevant actions, or the ability to perform app-specific actions like deleting specific emails, moving notes between folders, sharing links via email, opening documents, or summarizing articles.
What's new in the Photos app and new emojis
With this update, the Photos app receives cool improvements. Now it has a function of smart cleaning, which allows you to remove unwanted elements from images with a single tap, similar to Google's Magic Eraser tool. It also includes a new organizational system in the gallery, allowing you to categorize images more efficiently. And we can recover photos in bulk with a new option that appears when you access the trash in your photo library.
On the other hand, iOS 18.4 adds a collection of seven new emojis, including a face with dark circles under the eyes, a shovel, and a harp, expanding the customization options in conversations.
Ambient music and improvements to the Control Center
Apple has added a long-awaited feature to the Control center: The ability to play ambient music with a single tap. Users will be able to choose from four options: Wellness, Relaxation, Productivity, and Sleep. This will allow access to specific playlists without having to open the Music app. We'll also see changes to the Wi-Fi and Data icons in Control Center, which will show the actual coverage of those connections.
Redesigned Mail comes to iPad and Mac
