A week ago we learned about the new changes and features of iOS 18.2 thanks to the beta 2 release of iOS 18.2, the next major update to Apple's current software. A week later, iOS 3 Developer Beta 18.2 is now available for download. The first opinions about this new version are good, as it has been provided with greater stability and it seems that all the bugs carried over from beta 2 have disappeared. However, There are interesting new features in this beta 3 which is worth commenting on and we will tell you about it below.
Slowly but surely: iOS 3 beta 18.2 is now available
The big new features of iOS 18.2 focus on a slight expansion of countries where Apple Intelligence can be used In addition to the addition of ChatGPT to the ecosystem or the launch of Genmoji or Image Playground. All these interesting features should not overshadow other minor changes that will reach the whole world, and not just to certain countries as is the case with Apple Intelligence.
So far, developers who have tested iOS 3 beta 18.2 have noted the following changes within the release:
- Increased stability: One opinion that is unanimous among all developers is that iOS 3 beta 18.2 is much more stable than beta 2.
- Camera control: This new little button on the new iPhone 16 also has new features in iOS 3 beta 18.2. There's a new option in the Settings app that lets you remove the "Require Screen On" option. This means that with just one tap on the camera control, the camera will open, regardless of whether the screen is on or not. This can be a disaster if we have the phone in a place where the camera control can be accidentally pressed. But it's understandable that there are people who use this new button a lot and find it easier to quickly access the camera with just one tap.
- New icons in CarPlay: Underlying the source code of iOS 18.2 in its beta 3 are also changes related to CarPlay. And a social network user X has realized two new icons for the Multimedia and Weather app, focused on the new CarPlay experience coming later this year or early 2025.
- AirDrop Icon: The icon available in the “Share” context menu has been slightly changed.
- More changes in the Photos app: Apple continues its particular crusade around the Photos app that has already undergone many changes in iOS 18. In this beta 3, Image enlargement and reduction is suppressed on a video when you tap on it to remove or reveal frames. The video preview control at the bottom remains visible, however.
- TV App: It has finally been discovered that the TV app navigation bar can now be customized. Apps, sections, channels, sports, etc. can be added to the navigation sidebar.
