Apple plans to greatly improve its iCloud storage infrastructure

Apple is working on improving the infrastructure for iCloud taking into account the news that will be presented in the next few hours. Tim Cook's have in mind to develop their own storage equipment, and use less the infrastructure of third companies. Among his plans is build your own fiber optic network between your California, Nevada, North Carolina and Oregon Data Centers.

Right now, Apple uses mostly servers from HP, Cisco, and NetApp. Apple's idea is not depend so much on other companies and have more control of storage servers. I think it will be very positive in the future, since it is common to see a drop in an iCloud service that can give us more of a headache. In any case, the change will be gradual. Initially they will continue to use third-party servers, but they will use their own more and more until, probably, they stop using third-party services.

Earlier this year, Apple already said it would spend $ 3.900 billion on new data centers in Arizona, Ireland and Denmark. They are also working on a product, called a top-of-rack switch, using open source software from startup Cumulus Networks Inc. running on servers made by Quanta Computer Inc.

Those of Tim Cook also want to build their own high-speed fiber lines to increase the speed of their bandwidth, something that other companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Facebook are already using (how strange that Apple is the last to get on to this train), something that would be very beneficial for the television plans of those of Cupertino.

I think these changes that Apple wants to make are all positive. In theory, we end users can only win, as Apple will offer us a better service. And why not dream of more space in iCloud? It would not be easy, but it is possible. Let's see if they surprise us positively.
