It seems that the latest update to the second and third generation Apple TVs came with an unexpected problem. In recent days, the owners of one of these set-top boxes have begun to experience a bug that causes only the Computers, Music and Settings applications to appear, disappearing others such as Netflix, Hulu and other channels available on these Apple TV models.
Affected users have tried various solutions, all of them without success. Neither rebooting the device nor doing a reset to the router or Apple TV seems to work. A temporary solution is to change the country from the settings, but the applications end up disappearing for most users who are experiencing this bug. Something that yes works for some users is to change DNS settings, but the result is the same as in the rest of the solutions for many other users.
Apple has confirmed that it is aware of this problem with the 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV and is already working on a solution
An Apple representative has already confirmed that they are aware of the problem and that will be fixed in a future update of the second and third generation block set-top box system. Bearing this in mind, the best thing to do to fix this bug is to be patient (difficult when we have a major bug), check for an update from the settings and install it.
Second and third generation Apple TVs are no longer sold, but Apple will continue to offer support for some time to come. In the worst case, when they stop offering support, the Cupertino people usually respond and release an emergency update when necessary, so users who own an Apple TV other than the one launched in 2015 can rest assured that this and other future problems will be fixed.
