Apple Intelligence opens the door to new tools on our devices, and one of the ones that will attract the most attention is the possibility of eliminating objects or people from our photographs with truly surprising results, without having to install applications and easily.
We already knew about this tool, presented by Apple at the last WWDC when they showed us iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence for the first time, but it was not available until today, with the latest Beta of iOS 18.1. It is important to remember that Apple's Artificial Intelligence, Apple Intelligence as it has been named, will arrive with that version of iOS, and first to the United States, with an arrival date in Europe still unknown due to the problems with the Digital Markets Act European Union is asking Apple. But that is not an impediment for us to have already been able to test the Artificial Intelligence functions to show them on our blog, and the one that has surprised us the most is this new "clean up" cleaning tool that Apple has just incorporated into the latest iOS Beta 18.1.
How many times have you taken a photo and there is a person or an object that spoils it? Well, that is no longer a problem because with just a couple of taps on the screen you can get rid of it, leaving you with an almost perfect photo. The new Clean Up tool is next to the rest of the editing functions that appear when editing a photo within the Photos app, on the far right at the bottom of the screen. When you tap on it, you will see a The tool will automatically detect those elements that could be deleted, but you can also choose other elements, or even refine the final result. The options they offer you are to surround the element or "paint" it, and the Artificial Intelligence will be in charge of recognizing it, eliminating it and repairing everything that was behind this removed object so that the final result is as real as possible.
In addition to removing objects, the tool allows us to pixelate faces in photographs, perfect for when minors appear in photos that we want to upload to social networks. To pixelate the upload you must paint with your finger on the face of the person you want to keep anonymous, and their face will automatically be pixelated. In the tests I have carried out, it does not work on other elements that are not faces, such as license plates or identification numbers, but this functionality may improve over time, remember that it is the first Beta in which it is available.
