WhatsApp increased the maximum duration with which we could send a video from two to three minutes, but it can still be insufficient on some occasions. There are videos, like some monologues or, as with what I have done the test, an episode of the roadrunner that can last twice or even triple that duration. As a general rule, if we try to send a video of more than three minutes, WhatsApp will ask us to shorten it, as it appears in the image that heads this post. Then how send long videos from WhatsApp without being cut?
The first thing we have to know is yes we compress, WhatsApp will allow us to send those videos that have extra minutes. Why do we want to send those videos with 640 × 480 resolution if they are going to see it on a phone of approximately 5 inches? In addition, what we usually send by WhatsApp are videos that are not very important and, anyway, the application would also compress it if it allowed us to send them. For the application to do it, we do it. Next we will teach you how to send videos of more than three minutes on WhatsApp.
How to send long videos from WhatsApp without being cut off
The process is very simple and, once you get the hang of it, everything will be much faster.
- What we have to do is download Video Compressor, which is a simple application that will allow us to compress the videos in three different sizes for different cases.
- Once the application is downloaded, we will simply open it, choose a video and we will compress it in the smallest size of the three, which is by touching the circle that says «Low» and reducing it to 224 × 128. Once the conversion is finished, it asks us if we want to delete the original video. There we do what we prefer, but I recommend keeping the original.
- Now we just have to send the video as we would usually do, either from the reel or from WhatsApp.
If you prefer, you can do it with the "off-road" application Workflow. If you don't know how to do it, don't worry because I have created an extension for the occasion. A workflow extension is an action that we can invoke by tapping on the share button (
) of iOS and then selecting "Run Workflow", which in this case we will do it from the reel. To use it, we will do the following:
- We go to the reel and, in a video, we tap the Share button.
- We touch on «Run Workflow». If the option does not appear, we activate it by touching the three points (More).
- We chose LarVids Whatsapp (I could not think of another name that was not very long).
- In the video editor, as we want to send it in its entirety, we click on "Save" and it will begin to compress it. The Workflow tool should be to cut but, as it also compresses it, that's good for us.
- It will send us to WhatsApp and now we only have to send the video to a chat that we have open.
This way it is much faster and more comfortable than using Video Compressor and also the Workflow app is used for many more things.
I've tried it and it works. I have sent my nephew (on his father's phone) a 7 minute video of the roadrunner. Now you no longer have an excuse not to send videos of more than 3 minutes on WhatsApp.
And remember that if your iPhone has run out of space, the fault could be WhatsApp.

I can't send videos on WhatsApp
Many of you ask us about a fairly common problem and which refers to the fact that I can't send videos on WhatsApp. What to do in these cases?
There are many reasons why we cannot send videos by WhatsApp, we are going to take a tour of the ones that are generally the most common reasons why we cannot send videos through WhatsApp and how to fix it.
- We are having connectivity problems: On many occasions, even if the WiFi indicator indicates a good connection, it is important that we do the check. For this reason, we are going to disconnect from the WiFi and try to send the same video through the mobile data connection. The same happens with mobile data, it will be almost impossible to send a video through WhatsApp if we do not have at least a 3G or 4G LTE connection.
- The device has the wrong date configured: It is the least common, but it is important to have the date well configured so that WhatsApp works well, for this we are going to go to Settings> General> Date and time, and we are going to choose the "Automatic Adjustment".
- WhatsApp servers are down: There are few occasions when WhatsApp servers fail, so it is important that we do not despair even if the video cannot be sent, we try to check if it allows us to send any type of messages or documents, so we will make sure of the status of the servers.
- Restart the device: If none of the above solutions seem to work, we can reboot the device. To do this, we will press Home + Power for 7 seconds on iPhone 6s or lower devices, in the case of iPhone 7 or higher devices we must press the Power + Volume decrease combination.
- Close the application completely: Often the application is left with a badly executed process, this can be solved quickly if we press the Home button twice and open the Applications Switcher. Then we will choose WhatsApp and close it by sliding it from the bottom up.
We hope that with these tips you have put an end to the problem of not being able to send videos on WhatsApp.
My mother, all that?….
I'll give you an easier option ...
Option 1: Download Telegram
Option 2: Download Telegram
Option 3: Download Telegram
Hello Mark. It is a good option, but right now I have told a friend to send him a PDF by telegram and he tells me that he does not use it, that he does not have it activated. Not all of us use telegram.
A greeting.
Pay. Ideo compressor and nothing was lowered…. is it scam?
This is Marck, so I do it and for Pablo it is easy, to install it and see the facilities it has and you will see that it will be last for him, I say if it does not occupy it because there 30 megabytes stored there so that they do not take out the problem I feel that well employed.
Hello Pablo, thank you very much for the information I did it as you say and if it worked for me.
Thanks a lot…
excellent contribution pablo thanksssss
I already did all the steps as is but still cannot send the complete video by whatsapp. What else do I have to do or what am I doing wrong?
Guys in the end, which one do I download ????
Send a video in 224 × 128 resolution ??? You have no idea what you're talking about
To send a video in such a low resolution, I better make drawings by hand and send them, it will look just as ugly.
Hello, I have tried workflow, and I have not been able to achieve it, it does not even give me the option, I hope you can help me
Better not send the video I only give the link ... who wants to see a video of poor quality
It allows me to send the videos, however when the person tries to watch it it pauses automatically after 10 seconds.
I don't get the LarVids Whatsapp option
Nicol Navarro, I laughed at your comment 🙂
So much joke, they mount the video in freemake video converter on the pc, select MP4, in the bar above select mobile quality, go into the blue gear, put the frame size 240 x 180, accept and convert it, then They put it on the phone and voila, how much of a complication. It does not lose quality.
Manuel sure does not lose quality? : / I have that app ...
There is one thing that is not understood, which has to do with the resolution of the video that is long three minutes, you confuse the weight of the video with the time that has nothing to do
I wish I had read the comments before I wasted my money on this garbage… IT DOES NOT WORK !!!!
There is a much simpler and easier way to send long videos or files of 20, 30, 50, 100 or more Megabytes by WhatsApp without applications, without Google Drive and without compressing anything: SENDING THE FILE AS A DOCUMENT! ... and nothing else. How to do it? Easy: click on the chat clip of the person to whom you want to send the file and from the menu that will open choose "Document" and search on your mobile until you find it, whether it be audio, video or another type of file . When you select it, it will ask you, do you want to send this file to ...? you click, you wait for it to load and voila… sent.
