The iPhone 11 is still today the device to beat by the rest of current smartphone brands and so says the report by Jusy Hong, director of smartphone research at Om Day, which shows the data obtained by the Cupertino company with this iPhone model during the first three months of the year -that is, the months of the full Covid-19 pandemic- and is located in the top positions as the most sold model with 19,5, XNUMX million devices.
It seems easy for Apple to achieve these sales figures with the iPhone 11 in the market but we must highlight the great work of its competitors in recent years and especially the situation experienced worldwide by the coronavirus crisis. These first months of the year are not usually the best sales season for any smartphone company due to the sales of previous months in Christmas periods and so on, so getting to the top in terms of sales is not as easy as it seems, not even for Apple itself.
In this sense, the second best-selling smartphone was -according to this ranking- the Samsung Galaxy A51 with 6,8 million units shipped, closely followed by the Xiaomi Redmin Note 8 with 6,6 million units and in third place the Xiaomi Note 8 Pro with 6,1 million units shipped. As we can see in these figures the 19,5 million units of iPhone 11 sent are well above the rest and also the fourth place in this ranking is for another Apple model, the iPhone XR with 4,7 million devices shipped.
Apple also shipped nearly 4,2 million models this quarter iPhone 11 Pro Max and 3,8 million iPhone 11 Pro. If they had been counted together in this market study carried out by Omdia, the two models would have reached the second step of the sales podium. Omdia is a research company that was established after the merger of Informa Tech's research division and technology research firm IHS Markit.
