We are just over a month away from Apple presenting us with the new iPhone 15, both the normal and the Pro models, and the question of every year is back in force: Is it worth changing models this year? We tell you everything we know about the new models, their advantages and disadvantages.
At the end of this summer, as usual, Apple will launch four iPhone 15 models. On the one hand we will have two models with a size of 6.1 inches, the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro, and two 6,6-inch models, the iPhone 14 Plus and 14 Pro Max. While the Pro models will be the ones that bring the main novelties, the "normal" models will also have important changesbut less relevant. Obviously the first will be the most expensive models, surely even more expensive than the current ones. What changes will we have in the new iPhone 15 Pro and not Pro?
iPhone 15 and 15 Plus
The first thing we are going to notice in these new iPhones is that they will put aside the "notch" to incorporate the "Dynamic Island". This element that last year only reached the Pro models will be this year the hallmark of all the new iPhones that Apple launches. It will include the same elements as the "notch" but it will do so with that characteristic shape and that Apple has also managed to hide very well by giving it utility. The Dynamic Island is dynamic, as its name suggests, and it changes with notifications or with the playback of multimedia content. An initially unsightly element thus becomes a hallmark that also has its function.

The new iPhone 15 will renew its processor, incorporating the current A16 of the iPhone 14 Pro. Last year Apple had to slow down with the iPhone 14, leaving it with the same processor as the previous models, something that was not well received by the majority of users. users. The phone's processor is its building block, and sticking with it for multiple generations is never good news for those looking to switch phones. This year there will be a change, but it will be a "recycled" processor, leaving the new processor reserved for Pro models. The A16 is worthy of all trust, with high efficiency that allows a great balance between consumption and performance, and that guarantees to have an iPhone capable of performing all tasks for years.
They will also bring another long-awaited novelty: the change from the Lightning port to USB-C. Forced by European regulations, Apple will abandon its characteristic connection port for one that is an industry standard, an advantage when looking for compatible accessories. This is good news for most, although those who have Lightning accessories will be hurt by this decision because they will no longer be able to use them with this new iPhone 15. There has been a lot of talk about the possibility of Apple imposing some restrictions on that USB-C and only products certified as "made for iPhone" can access all the functionalities. It would be a strange step because USB-C has been used in iPads for years without any of those limitations, so it seems like a rumor with little consistency. What could happen is that the USB-C of the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus is slower than that of the Pro models, which could be a Thunderbolt port like on the iPad Pro.

As usual, Apple will offer new colors on these models. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus could arrive in two new colors, blue and pink. Apple has always offered flashy Colors on its regular models, and this year will be no exception. There may be changes to the rear glass, with a "Frost" finish instead of the current gloss, similar to what we currently have in the Pro models. In terms of price, an increase is not expected in these iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, keeping the same prices of the current models: €1.011 for the 6,1″ model and €1.161 for the 6,7″ model.
iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max
They will be the new flagships of Apple and therefore the ones that bring the most relevant news. We will see novelties in the design, with more curved sides and, above all, a change in its material: titanium. The current polished steel will give way to a stronger, lighter material with a matte finish, which will mean an important visual change. A new element will appear in the frame: the action button. The iPhone mute switch, a characteristic element since the original iPhone, will disappear and in its place there will be a simple button whose function we can customize with actions such as turning on the flash or even executing shortcuts.

In these Pro models there will be a processor upgrade and they will debut the A17, the first 3nm processor that is more efficient and faster than the current A16, with which we could enjoy a longer battery life on our phone. This improvement in the performance of the terminal will also come hand in hand with more RAM memory, a change reserved for the Pro models, leaving the normal models with the same amount as the current ones. A common element to all models will be USB-C, but contrary to what we discussed with the 15 and 15 Plus models, in the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max it is expected to be a high-speed port, at least USB- C 3.2 or even Thunderbolt 3.
The two models, Pro and Pro Max, will be identical in most of their features, except for the larger battery of the 6,7″ model and the camera. The telephoto, the objective that allows us to take photos with a zoom of up to 3x, will be better in the Pro Max model using a telescopic system that will allow the optical zoom to be increased up to 6x. But the most striking novelty besides the change in the phone's material will occur on the screen: the frames will be reduced to 1,55 millimeters, becoming the smartphone with the smallest frame. Right now the measurement is 2,17 millimeters, and although looking at the figures it may seem like a minimal difference, it is clearly noticeable, as you can see in the following image.

A new dark blue will be added to the usual colors that will be very similar to that of the iPhone 12 Pro, but more greyish. There has been a lot of talk about a new dark red color for the Pro models, but in recent weeks there has been more emphasis on blue, which seems more likely, although hopefully we're wrong. In what seems unlikely that we will be wrong will be in the price of the new iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, or at least in the detail that it will be increased. Justified by the new material, titanium, Apple could increase its price by about $100 compared to current prices, which translated into euros could mean that the iPhone 15 Pro could start at €1.500 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will cost €1.650 at its base price.
Is it worth the change?
Like each and every year: it depends. If you have the latest iPhone model the answer is no. No matter how attractive the titanium finish is, or the screen with less frame, objectively there is nothing that justifies the outlay of the new model. However, contrary to what happened last year, if you have an older model This year you may be interested in purchasing the iPhone 15 in any of its models instead of those of previous years. Both the basic models (15 and 15 Plus) and the higher models (15 Pro and 15 Pro Max) have enough new features so that you don't have to look at other previous models, as long as your budget admits it, obviously.
