The RAE has published its digital library, so you can enjoy it on your iPad

RAE

The Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) has taken a significant step in the dissemination of Spanish literature by launching its Digital Library, a platform that offers free access to more than 4.800 classic works. This literary treasure includes writings by emblematic authors such as Cervantes, Lope de Vega and Rosalía de Castro, among others. The initiative seeks to bring the general public and researchers closer to fundamental texts of our culture, preserving and disseminating the bibliographic heritage accumulated by the RAE over three centuries.

Accessing this vast collection from your iPad is a simple and straightforward process, and you'll also be able to store all of this content in PDF format. Here's how to do it:

  1. Enter the RAE Digital Library: Open the Safari browser on your iPad and go to the official RAE website: www.rae.es. In the main menu, select the “Digital Library” option to access the catalogue of available works.
  2. Explore their catalogue: Once inside, you will find a search engine at the top that will allow you to locate specific works by title, author or theme. In addition, you can browse through the different literary categories to discover new titles of interest.
  3. Selection and download: When you choose a book, a page will open with detailed information about it. Scroll down until you find the “Download PDF file” button. When you click on it, the PDF will load in your browser.
  4. Save it to your iPad: With the PDF open, tap the share icon located in the top bar of Safari. From the options that appear, select «Save to Files» and choose the desired location on your device. Alternatively, my favorite option is to choose the feature «Open in Books» so that the document is saved directly in the Apple Books application, making it easier to read later and allowing us to integrate all the functionalities of this app.

As we've said, if you decide to store multiple works, it's a good idea to organize your files into folders within the Files app or the Books app, whichever you prefer, as this will allow you to easily access your readings and keep your digital library organized.
