Apple continues to focus its efforts on improving the user experience on its devices, and with the arrival of iOS 18.4, the focus is clear: a smarter and more functional Siri. According to various leaks and internal communications, the company has ambitious plans for its voice assistant, which will include everything from a technological reconstruction to Integration of advanced artificial intelligence models.
Apple's priority this year revolves around two fundamental pillars: revamping Siri’s infrastructure and refining the AI models used in several of its key features. Not only does this promise a more natural and accurate experience, but it also aims to put Apple on par with competitors like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Siri reinvents itself with advanced technology
One of the main goals for iOS 18.4 is the Rebuilding Siri's core technology, a project that seeks to transform the voice assistant into a much more powerful entity, capable of processing and responding more accurately and quickly. This development, known internally as “LLM Siri” (next-generation language models), will be available in the coming years and could reach its full potential with iOS 19 in 2026.
This new version of Siri will allow for much more natural interaction with users, improving language understanding and providing more relevant and contextual responses. In addition, it is expected to be able to perform more complex tasks and maintain more fluid conversations, something that is currently a challenge for many voice assistants.
New features for a smarter Siri
With the arrival of iOS 18.4, three key features will be introduced that will take Siri to the next level:
- personal context: Siri will be able to identify information stored on the device to offer personalized help without compromising privacy. For example, it will be able to find data in emails, messages or notes based on the user's needs.
- On-screen recognition: This improvement will allow Siri to understand what is displayed on the device screen and act accordingly. For example, adding an address from a message to a contact or managing tasks directly from open applications.
- Navigation between applications: Siri will have the ability to move between different apps seamlessly. This includes actions like transferring data from one app to another, such as adding an enhanced photo to the Notes app after editing it.
These updates will make Siri a much more comprehensive and flexible assistant, which will be able to integrate with third-party applications, further expanding its capabilities.
Optimizing notification summaries
One area that Apple is looking to significantly improve is the system notification summaries, which until now has been a weak point due to recurring bugs. These summaries, which organize and highlight important notifications, were temporarily disabled in certain apps with iOS 18.3 due to accuracy issues.
With iOS 18.4, Apple plans to implement most advanced artificial intelligence models to ensure more reliable and useful summaries, thus improving the daily experience of users.
Gradual evolution strategy
Far from seeking an abrupt revolution, Apple maintains its philosophy of progressive evolution, prioritizing quality and consistency in its updates. This strategy allows the company to carry out constant adjustments and refinements that ensure a better experience without compromising system stability.
This gradual approach also extends to the implementation of Apple Intelligence, whose availability by default in iOS 18.3 is already a significant step towards a Deeper integration of artificial intelligence in the Apple ecosystem.
