A few days ago I received a query about the slow download of Applications from the App Store. It is not the first that I receive about this problem, and the solution (or rather, the explanation) has always been the same. The cases have all been similar: when downloading a new application from the App Store, the download is very slow, despite being connected by WiFi and with a good connection speed contracted. What is the problem? Simultaneous downloads.
IOS has long offered the option of «Automatic Downloads«. We can find it in Settings> iTunes and App Store. If we activate it, when downloading an application on a device it will make all devices associated with the same Apple ID and that have the option activated, download it at the same time. A really useful function that I have activated on all my devices, so I have my applications installed without having to synchronize with iTunes. But this causes the downloads to be slower, since (in my case) four devices start downloading the application simultaneously connected to the same WiFi network. This will cause them to be slower than usual in most cases.
In all the occasions that I have been asked, this has been the problem, and the solution is to deactivate it, or simply be patient and wait for the downloads to finish. A very useful function, but with "side effects" that it is better to know so as not to go looking for WiFi, router settings or think that our device does not work correctly. By the way, if you activate this option, remember disable the option to download via 3G in the same menu if you don't want to be surprised by running out of data rates early.

I have them deactivated and still cannot download
The same thing happens to me and my wife with 300Mb Orange Fiber.
And the funny thing is that if we deactivate Wifi and do it with data …… .. the downloads are made by flying….
Curious…
A greeting.
