iTunes is the common ground for all of our iOS devices, or at least pretends to be. Although it is less and less essential, since there are alternatives to perform all (or almost all) the functions of iTunes from our own device, it never hurts to perform some synchronization with the application to back up our applications and backup copies. In addition, everything can be done without even connecting our device to the USB of our computer, thanks to the wireless synchronization via our WiFi network. Something that many users are unaware of is that multiple devices can be synced to the same iTunes, with the same library, and the devices do not necessarily have to have the same content. We are going to take advantage of the possibility that iTunes offers to connect via WiFi to the devices to see how this can be achieved.
If you look at the image that heads the article, I have 3 devices connected to iTunes: two iPads via WiFi and an iPhone via USB. I can select one of the three by clicking on the button at the top right.
Let's look at the applications in one and the other. First of all, it is important to note that the option "Automatically sync new applications" must be unchecked. As you can see in the image, One device has some applications, and another has others, and that is how iTunes respects it. You don't need to sync the same apps across all the devices you connect.
If we go to the "Movies" tab, the same thing happens, in one I don't even have the movies in the iTunes library enabled to be synchronized, while in the other there are some marked movies.
They are just two examples of how iTunes respects the synchronizations of each device, and what you signal to synchronize in one should not be the same as in the other. If you already want to take the separation to its maximum degree, it is best that you create a couple of different libraries and use each one for your device, but that will be a matter of another article.
