The death of iTunes is very close, so close that in just 24 hours the end of iTunes could be announced as we know it right now. In addition to the rumors about his disappearance, Apple has taken several steps in this regard, modifying accounts of its social networks and redirecting others to the new services that will arrive with iOS 13 and macOS 10.15.
iTunes will be replaced by new standalone apps in macOS 10.15, just as we have in iOS. All this will be confirmed tomorrow at WWDC 2019, starting at 19:00 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time). Meanwhile, Apple continues to prepare for something that a few years ago seemed unthinkable.
What until now were nothing more than rumors is beginning to take shape. Apple has started by removing content from iTunes accounts on Facebook and Instagram. Apple has migrated all the content from your old Facebook account to the Apple TV account (link) dedicated to the new Apple application and service. The same has happened with the Instagram account, where no content appears now and you are prompted to follow the new Apple TV account (link). Other changes that point in this direction can be seen in how Apple has abandoned the "itunes.apple.com" addresses for Apple Music content to use the new "music.apple.com" addresses.
Everything seems to indicate that iTunes will not die completely, but that of the four applications in which it will be disintegrated (Music, Podcast, TV and Books) the first of them will be the one that retains some of the features that until now were reserved for iTunes. Tomorrow at the presentation of the new macOS 10.15 we will see all the details of this change and what Apple has in store for us with the new applications, which could be one more example of the "Marzipan Project", that is, universal applications compatible with iOS and macOS.
