Unboxing the iPhone 6 Smart Battery Case

Against all odds and without any prior rumors, Apple surprised us last Tuesday with the launch of a case with built-in battery for the iPhone 6 / 6s that allows us to recharge the device, in addition to protecting it against possible falls, with an 80% extra charge.

It's weird that Apple decided to release a battery case when previously it was more necessary than with the new iPhone models that integrate a higher capacity battery, but this could indicate that the company's future plans do not include expanding the capacity of the 4,7-inch model.

The aesthetics of this new case leaves a lot to be desired but, as we informed you yesterday, it is motivated by Mophie, the manufacturer of cases with an integrated battery that until now was one of the few manufacturers that was dedicated to manufacturing this type of case. Apparently Mophie has registered several patents with the traditional shape of its sleeve and possible variants that I could use in the future, and it seems that the guys from Cupertino have not wanted to pay to use their patents and have launched this anti-aesthetic monstrosity of a case to jointly recharge and protect our iPhone 6.

The guys at 9to5Mac have recorded the unboxing where we can see the only two colors in which Apple has launched this new case, black and white. It seems that they are not very clear if this new accessory will be very successful with the public and They did not want to risk making this case with the rest of the colors used in the manufacture of the new iPhone 6s.

The case integrates a 1877 mAh battery, which, as I mentioned above, offers us an autonomy of 80% of our iPhone, perfect for those intense days in which we do not know when we will have a plug available to charge our device. The price of this new accessory stands at 119 euros, which if we compare it with the Mophie covers does not seem very far-fetched.
