Apple and Google are two of the most influential, and most powerful technology companies in the world. They are constantly compared in different fields, today we are going to face their respective operating systems, iOS 8.1 and Android 5 Lollipop, the most used on our mobile devices.
This is not going to be a comparison of efficiency, or the capacity of these systems, but rather it is going to be a comparison focused solely on your design, in the aesthetics of the system. The guys at Redmond Pie have done a fabulous and very laborious job, in which they do the design comparison.
I, respecting and knowing the work that it has cost them to do this article, I wanted to bring it to you and apart from taking advantage of some of its captures, to state my point of view regarding the design of both operating systems.
Since Android was born, I have always heard it said, in fact I said it, that aesthetically iOS was superior to Android, it was prettier. Android has evolved a lot, and with the new version, the Android 5 Lollipop, you could say that Android has taken a step towards design maturity, so it is time to analyze and see if iOS is still superior aesthetically speaking.

We start with the lock screen, as you can see in both we have a simple and elegant styleAs for icons and typography, I personally like both icons a lot, but in typography I prefer Apple.
Here we have the home screen, on the one hand we have a considerable change in terms of the aesthetics of the icons by Android 5 Lollipop, with its new material design theme, I I'm more like Android, having the applications that I want in the different windows, and then having a menu with all the apps, aesthetically I like it better than having all the apps on the screen and depending on folders.

As for the phone dialer, I am not objective here, as I love homogeneous keyboards, where the keys do not have borders, so I like the Android one better.

As I have said before, I am in favor of the keyboard edges disappearing, they seem much more elegant to me, so here it is clear what my choice is, Android again.

Multitasking, here I have no doubts, I'm a supporter of iOS 8.1 design, I find it much more aesthetic and comfortable, than that of Android 5 Lollipop.

I have already given my opinion before, that I prefer a section with all the applications, that's why I opt for AndroidThe only thing that would change it would be to remove the gray background and make it run out of background, that is, to have the wallpaper, although this is not ugly, I prefer to have no background.

The calculator, I will not give reasons because I would repeat myself a lot, so I directly say Android 5 Lollipop.

Here Android disappoints me, the elegance of iOS 8.1, I see it clearly and it has an aesthetic superior to that of Android.

The volume control, in addition to being more complete, seems better to me that of Android, that of I don't like iOS 8.1 that when I turn up the volume a box appears in the middle of the screen.

Widgets on Android are more practical, you can place them as you see fit, but if we talk about design, make no mistake about it, the widget center of iOS 8.1 takes the cake.

Siri is an assistant that besides being useful, he knows how to dress well, It would be nice if you leave some model to the Google Now Search of Android.

The settings screen, the truth is that here I do not know which one would stay, they both seem quite correct, there is nothing that says this does not fit me, or this is better than this, that's why here I stay neutral.

On-screen notifications, iOS 8.1 leaves much to be desired, in my point of view, here it is Android Lollipop who has the advantage, and I really like this change that has occurred with this new theme.

On the other hand, on the lock screen I like more homogeneous notifications with the background, notifications in iOS 8.1 in this case better integrate with the lock screen.

Applications, they give us everything, they take everything away from us. For a user to want to buy, the product has to be in a nice storeWell presented, I think that Android exposes the sections of its store better than iOS and it seems to me a better style than that of iOS.

And well, although it is used a few times, but things are like that, everything has an end and this analysis ends with the off button as it could not be otherwise, in this case I feel very sorry for both but They both seem pretty ugly to me, they could do a little more work on them.
As they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, there will be people who agree with my opinion, many other people who think absolutely differently, I personally would not say a winner, since for me the winner is a mix between both designs, taking things from one and adding them to the other.
Android has made a huge advance on the subject of aesthetics, and congratulate Redmond Pie again for this excellent contribution.
